Asbestos Awareness

A comprehensive Asbestos Awareness course (Category A) for anyone whose work could bring them into contact with asbestos-containing materials — including construction and maintenance workers, electricians, plumbers, gas fitters, joiners, painters and decorators, roofers, demolition workers, shopfitters, building surveyors and caretakers. Builds the knowledge to recognise where asbestos may be present, understand the serious health risks, follow the legal requirements, and know exactly what to do — and not do — when asbestos is suspected.

Across in-depth modules you'll learn what asbestos is and why it kills, the three main types (and why you cannot identify them by sight or colour), the common asbestos-containing materials found in UK buildings, the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 and the duty to manage, how everyday trade work releases dangerous fibres, the essential checks before starting work, the correct step-by-step response if asbestos is found or disturbed, and the basics of control measures and safe disposal — brought to life with branded diagrams, realistic UK trade scenarios, a knowledge check after every module, and a downloadable Quick Reference to keep.

Finish with a scenario-based final assessment (80% to pass, unlimited attempts, every answer explained) and earn your Certificate of Completion.

Please note: this is an awareness-only course (Category A under CAR 2012). It gives you the knowledge to recognise asbestos risks, avoid disturbing ACMs and report correctly. It does NOT authorise, qualify or licence you to work with, disturb, sample or remove asbestos — those activities require further specialist training and, for higher-risk work, an HSE licence.
