A practical, scenario-led Leadership & Management course for newly-promoted managers, team leads and supervisors making the difficult leap from being a strong individual contributor to leading other people. It builds the everyday skills you actually need in your first weeks in the chair: running effective one-to-ones and coaching conversations, delegating without micromanaging or abdicating, giving and receiving feedback (including the difficult conversations most managers avoid), motivating and engaging your team, setting and managing performance fairly, building psychological safety, resolving conflict, making sound decisions, and leading people through change, all while looking after your own resilience.
Across ten in-depth modules you will learn the shift from doing to leading and why influence beats authority; how to flex your style with Situational Leadership and develop the emotional intelligence (starting with self-awareness) that underpins every good decision; how to run high-value 1:1s and coach using the GROW model; how to delegate at the right level and avoid both micromanagement and abdication; how to give behaviour-focused feedback using SBI and radical candour; what genuinely motivates people through autonomy, mastery and purpose; how to manage performance and objectives fairly; how to build the psychological safety and team norms that high performance depends on; how to resolve conflict and make decisions constructively; and how to lead change with Kotter's model while building your own resilience and avoiding burnout.
It is UK-oriented but globally relevant, built around real workplace scenarios you will recognise, with a knowledge check after every module, branded diagrams, and a downloadable Manager's Quick Reference to keep. Finish with a scenario-based final assessment (80% to pass, unlimited attempts, every answer explained) and earn your Certificate of Completion.
Please note: this is practical people-leadership skills training. It is not a substitute for your organisation's HR policies, your own legal advice, or qualified employment-law guidance. Wherever a topic touches dismissal, grievance, discrimination, disciplinary process or contractual change, the course flags it, and in those moments you must involve your HR team and take professional advice. UK employment law has specific statutory requirements (notice, the ACAS Code of Practice, protected characteristics under the Equality Act 2010, the right to be accompanied) that change over time and vary by contract; treat anything legal here as orientation, not advice.
