A practical Project Management Masterclass for aspiring and junior project managers, team leads, small-business operators and anyone who has been handed a project and is not sure where to start. It takes you from first principles to confidently planning, running and closing real projects — using both traditional/waterfall methods (PMBOK-aligned) and Agile/Scrum. The orientation is UK-first (terminology, examples and GDPR-aware communications), but the methods are global and apply anywhere.
Across ten in-depth modules you will learn what makes work a project and how to move it through its five lifecycle phases; how to capture requirements and define scope with a Work Breakdown Structure; how to build a realistic schedule and find the critical path; how to estimate and track a budget using Earned Value basics (PV, EV, AC, CPI and SPI); how to run a complete risk process and maintain a living risk register; how to deliver with Agile and Scrum — sprints, roles, ceremonies, backlogs and Kanban; how to manage stakeholders and communications with the power/interest grid and the RACI matrix; how to control quality and defeat scope creep through disciplined change control; how to lead and motivate a team you often do not manage directly; and how to choose the right tool and methodology, and navigate the main certification routes.
Every module is brought to life with worked examples, realistic scenarios, branded diagrams and a knowledge check, and you finish by assembling the artefacts you have built — charter, scope and WBS, critical-path schedule, budget, risk register, RACI, communications plan, quality and change-control process, and a justified choice of methodology and tool — into one coherent project plan. That bundle is project management, and by the end you can build it. Finish with a scenario-based final assessment (80% to pass, unlimited attempts, every answer explained) and earn your Certificate of Completion.
Please note: this course builds genuinely usable, job-ready skills and gives you solid exam awareness for the PMP, PRINCE2, CAPM and Scrum certifications — but it is not a substitute for the official exam-prep courses, the current PMBOK Guide, the PRINCE2 manual or the Scrum Guide, all of which you should study directly before sitting any exam. Tool screens, pricing and certification eligibility rules change frequently — always confirm current details with the official source.

Frequently asked questions
How long is the certificate valid, and do I need to refresh it?
The certificate does not expire, as it records that you completed the course on a given date. Project management standards and tools change over time, so it is worth revisiting the current PMBOK Guide, PRINCE2 manual and Scrum Guide periodically to stay up to date.
Who is this course for?
It is aimed at aspiring and junior project managers, team leads, small-business operators and anyone handed a project who is not sure where to start. The orientation is UK-first, but the methods apply anywhere.
Is this Project Management Masterclass accredited or recognised?
No. Pivotal University has no external accreditation, so this is a certificate of completion rather than a regulated qualification. It builds job-ready skills and gives you exam awareness for PMP, PRINCE2, CAPM and Scrum, but it is not a substitute for the official exam-prep courses or sitting those exams.
How long does the course take?
There is around 15 hours and 30 minutes of content across 54 lessons. Because it is self-paced, you can work through it in one go or spread it over several sessions, and your progress is saved as you go.
Do I get a certificate?
Yes. When you complete the modules and pass the final assessment (80% to pass, with unlimited attempts and every answer explained), you earn a Certificate of Completion. You can download it and add it to your CV or LinkedIn profile.
Is it self-paced, and are there any prerequisites?
Yes. Every course is fully online and self-paced with lifetime access, so you can start anytime and learn at your own pace on any device. There are no prerequisites unless the course says otherwise.
