Working at Height

A comprehensive Working at Height course for anyone who works at height or plans and supervises it — construction and maintenance workers, roofers, painters and decorators, electricians, window cleaners, warehouse and stores staff, facilities teams, sign-fitters and anyone who uses ladders, stepladders, towers, scaffolds or powered access. Builds the knowledge to recognise the risks, apply the law and its hierarchy, choose the right equipment and work safely above — and below — ground level.

Across in-depth modules you'll learn what working at height means in law (including why there is no minimum height), why falls are a leading cause of UK workplace fatalities, the Work at Height Regulations 2005 hierarchy of Avoid → Prevent → Minimise, how to plan a job and assess the risk before starting, collective and personal fall protection in the right order, the safe use of ladders and stepladders (1-in-4 angle, three points of contact, what not to stand on), the competence requirements for scaffolds, towers and MEWPs, the hidden danger of fragile roofing surfaces, controls for falling objects, and the essentials of equipment inspection, rescue planning and suspension trauma — all brought to life with branded diagrams, realistic UK trade scenarios, a knowledge check after every module, and a downloadable Quick Reference to keep.

Finish with a scenario-based final assessment (80% to pass, unlimited attempts, every answer explained) and earn your Certificate of Completion.

Please note: this is an awareness-level course. It gives you the knowledge to recognise working at height risks, apply the legal hierarchy and work safely on equipment you have been trained and authorised to use. It does not, on its own, make you competent to erect scaffolds, operate MEWPs or use fall-arrest systems — those activities require specific further training. Your site's risk assessments, method statements and competent persons always apply on top of this course.
